Vibes Media Grabs Top Honors at This Year’s CTIA Wireless

April 11, 2006

Award wins in two key categories showcase company’s position as an innovation leader in the mobile marketing industry; highlight the value of Vibes’ mobile marketing programs

Las Vegas, CTIA WIRELESS — April 11, 2006 — Vibes Media, a leading provider of interactive text message and mobile content marketing programs, today announced that two of its mobile marketing programs were selected as winners for CTIA’s Technology Marketing Awards. Vibes’ program with the Dallas Mavericks won first place in the “Mobile: Call to Action” category; and last summer’s Wango Tango Concert program garnered a third place honor in the “Mobile: Integration with a Live Event” category. Winners were announced at last week’s CTIA WIRELESS 2006 Convention in Las Vegas.

The Technology Marketing Awards program is designed to reward excellence in marketing communications and to give recognition to those who have demonstrated creativity and innovation while promoting a wireless product or service. More than 80 applications were submitted and reviewed by a panel of recognized members of the media, industry analysts and executives, as well as select show attendees. Products were judged on originality and creativity, ease of use, overall appeal, clarity of message and recall value.

“Attendees at this year’s CTIA heard a lot about mobile marketing and advertising and the different perspectives on creating successful campaigns. For Vibes, the simple truth is that the mobile device can be a powerful marketing tool, but it only works if a person wants to interact,” said Alex Campbell, Chief Executive Officer of Vibes. “That’s why we’re committed to maximizing client programs by engaging individuals for a continued period of time. Nothing validates this more than the results and value our programs generate for our customers, and to be recognized from among our peers at CTIA as innovators in the industry is an honor.”

Vibes Media’s program for the Dallas Mavericks was designed to help build a database of fans with which the team could communicate interactively via text. In implementing the program, Vibes helped the Mavericks become the first NBA team to go mobile by creating a fully integrated mobile platform for the Mavs to use on the short code “4MAVS”. The program included Vibes’ Text-2-Win™ SMS contest system for use both during games inside the arena and on TV. In addition, exclusive player and cheerleader ringtones and wallpapers were developed. These were offered for free to fans via text and online, and fans who participated in the contests or downloaded mobile content could opt-in to receive additional text information from the Mavs. The Mavs have averaged more than 2,500 fan participants-per-game, and the ongoing interaction has helped establish an even stronger bond with its loyal fans.

Vibes implemented a Text-2-Screen™ program at Wango Tango’s 2005 Concert, in which concertgoers could send text messages from their cellular phones to a large screen set above the stage for the whole audience to see. While concert texting programs commonly generate several thousand messages, the Wango Tango show stood out in terms of sheer numbers. Overall, 5,021 people sent in 18,787 messages during a one-hour period.

“Marketers are always looking for more innovative ways to cut through the clutter and reach consumers,” said Robert Mesirow, vice president and show director for CTIA WIRELESS. “We are proud to reward the marketing professionals who displayed a high level of creativity in the execution of their campaigns. On behalf of CTIA, we congratulate Vibes Media on this accomplishment and look forward to their continued innovation in the field of mobile.”
