Challenge

The Penguins demanded a mobile solution that would allow them to turn their scattered fan base into a mobile database of interested fans they could activate to extend their brand reach and provide added value to their fans to keep them engaged with the franchise.

Solution

Vibes' Alerts Solutions provided the perfect fit for the Pittsburgh Penguins. The Penguins first promoted their Alerts campaign with calls to action in-stadium and on-air, each prompting fans to text in to receive communications directly from the franchise. They then utilized their own content (including promotions, player updates and team news) to create engaging alerts messages they delivered using Vibes Web-based, self-serve platform, keeping their fans engaged and their franchise top of mind.

Results

Through strong internal promotion and a dedication to mobile, the Penguins have built a mobile database of over 60,000 subscribers. They continue to activate this database on a weekly (and, during the season, daily) basis, offering promotions, updates and other franchise news directly to their fans using Vibes' proprietary Alerts platform.
