Pittsburgh Penguins - Selling Tickets and Sponsorships
Overview
The Penguin’s started “The Student Rush Club” in order to develop a younger, more loyal fan base who would ultimately become life-long fans and season ticket holders.
Challenge
Provide members of the Student Rush Club an opportunity to purchase last minute tickets at special prices.
Solution
Before every Penguins’ home game, Vibes received a list of 100 unique Ticketmaster codes. An alert message was sent out asking members of the club if they wanted the chance to buy tickets to the upcoming game. Once the entry window was closed, 100 unique winners were selected at random. The winners then had to complete their purchase within 24 hours by entering their unique code at pittsburghpenguins.com/rushtix (which was linked to Ticketmaster’s web site). The offer was coupled with a sponsored message from Pizza Hut in which fans could text “PIZZA” to receive a special offer from the restaurant chain.
